I am a certified special education teacher, and teach phonics on a daily basis to a crew of diverse and neurospicy learners. Students under the ASD umbrella, as well as student with attention / ADHD needs and dyslexia are encouraged.
Student should be able to independently hold a pencil / marker in their hand and be able to create strokes on a page. Tools like pencil grips / straps / assistive devices are welcome, but hand-over-hand guiding from an adult is discouraged.
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents will need something to write on. I provide a lined paper that is ideal to use. I suggest using this in a plastic page protector, with a dry erase marker. Saves you from printing out a lot of copies! Alternatively, a whiteboard marker, white board with lines, and eraser. But, they could also use markers, crayons, pencils, or pens with paper. Some tasks use an "Elementary Magnet Set with Folding Board", as found on Amazon for $20, but the tasks can also be completed by using magnet letters (like the kind used on fridges), foam letters, or any sort of physical representation of the letter. Worksheets will also be provided for enrichment, so access to a printer is needed if you would like your child to have work when we are not together.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The lessons presented are based on the kindergarten Fundations curriculum by Wilson Reading. Some materials have been sourced from Teachers Pay Teachers. Reinforcement videos & songs from YouTube will be linked in posts.
