Mastery Evaluation
1-2 hours per week. This is wholly dependent on what the student most needs during the class, and whether or not we will meet more than once. In the case of the latter, a student may work extensively on paper revisions or text preparation, for example.
Grading
In my experience as a high school studies teacher, by request I can grade student work so that students can have an accurate indication of how well their work might be received (if currently enrolled in a public or private secondary school).

Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 12
This tutoring course is geared towards middle and high students who may need additional assistance where their reading, writing, and public speaking skills are concerned.

For each class, the content and skills to be focused on are determined by the student, parent, and teacher. My goal is that each session is able to address the student's specific academic needs. When tutoring, I strive to build a strong rapport with the student, so that they are able to maximize their potential for growth in that session and beyond.

Parents are strongly encouraged to reach out prior to the session (before or after enrolling) in order to provide more information on the specific needs of their child.

Example Topics and Themes: (including but limited to)
- Research paper help (research process, argumentative writing, formal citations)
- AP Test preparation (US History, World History, European History, US Government & Politics, etc.)
- Debate, seminar, and public speaking preparation (overview of format, skills and style)
- Reading comprehension: for an article or book the student is currently reading (focus on author purpose, main ideas, themes, etc.)

Please also reach out with any requests on certain dates and times. I always have the option to list additional sections, and I'm more than happy to work around your schedule!

Learning Goals

Learning goals are dependent on the specific focus that is desired by the student and parent, but can include reading comprehension, writing skills, extemporaneous speaking, research, or all of the above.
