Hello, I'm Paula Reid and happy to meet you and be able to privately tutor your child/ren. I've been in the education field all my life it seems, from helping my classmates finish their lessons when I was in second grade, well actually tutoring them when they needed help in a subject. I loved helping my classmates so much that it stuck with me throughout my schooling until I became a teacher maximizing my passion to teach children. Later on I became a Principal. I just love teaching! I love children of all ages and I love seeing learners become the best that they can be . . . and it happens through great parenting, education, phenomenal teaching and even with the help of a dedicated tutor. I have a BA in Psychology, an MA in Education, Special Education and post-graduate work in School Administration. I've taught learners from the ages of 4 to seniors in urban, rural USA, Africa and South America, as well as ESL classes to children and young adults in China and a few other countries. I've taught special needs students as well as gifted learners. I've been an online teacher for almost seven years now and have enjoyed every moment. My every day goal is to help people, to learn something new each day and teach something to someone; additionally to help students love learning, become life-long learners and develop a healthy, global view of our world. I love life, traveling, reading, music, photography, theater, adventure and I'll love teaching and tutoring your learner in this one-on-one private tutoring session/s, really getting to know each learner and help them get to their best academic level.
Homework Offered
○ Learners are always encouraged to practice what was taught in each private session ○ Learners 5-6 years old should practice reading to a parent 10 minutes a day ○ Learners 7-9 years old should practice reading something of interest to them for 15 minutes a day [minimal]0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
○ Learners will be assessed from time to time in order to mark improvementGrades Offered
Learner 5-6 years will need the following supplies: *** ○ magnetic dry erase whiteboard 8 X 10" minimum ○ 2 complete sets of magnetic alphabet letters [upper and lower case letters] ○ dry erase markers ○ dry erase eraser [or clean sock] ○ lined paper for writing words, phrases and complete sentences ○ pencils Learner 7-9 years will need the following supplies: *** ○ dry erase whiteboard 11 X 17" minimum ○ dry erase markers ○ dry erase eraser [or clean sock] ○ notebook ○ dictionary ○ pencils / pens *** Additional supplies may be needed as the learner advances through their individualized educational plan, such as selected books. Parents will always be notified ahead of time when the learner needs additional materials.
*** SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS: Please note that this is a private tutoring class designed to help your learner grow in the necessary skills to become a fluent reader and proficient writer. This is NOT a "homework help" class. Learners can enroll in private tutoring classes one, two or three times a week if they so desire.
