1:1 Ongoing Private Tutoring: Reading & Writing for Grades K-3 [ELA/ESL]

In this ongoing 1:1 tutoring class, learners will receive private tutoring English in reading & writing including phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, letters and their sounds, CVC words, rhyming patterns, punctuation, capitalization, sentence structure, taking them from where they are today to a new level. Great for ELA and ESL learners.

This private tutoring is designed for each specific learner and what they need, reaching each learner where they are, assessing their present level and administering 1-on-1 instruction to improve their reading skills, reading fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and writing. The consistent format used each week will help learners grow their reading skills, expose them to different reading and writing passages, stories, rhymes and tales appropriate to the learner's reading level. 

Passages will increase in complexity as learners continue with their 1-on-1 private tutoring. We'll start off simple so learners are not frustrated with reading challenges as they work through developing and honing their newly learned skills of inference, understanding letters and sounds, comprehension, identify meanings of words, learn new vocabulary, proper grammar and structure, punctuation, spelling, and the composition of correctly formed sentences and paragraphs as the are able. 

I'll assess younger learners, and any learner who needs to build a stronger skills foundation, to see if they know letters, consonants, vowels, the sounds they make, able to decode words, sight words, and begin blending sounds together to form words. As we build a solid phonetic foundation, young learners will begin writing two-word sentences, then on to longer complete sentences and begin reading. Young learners 5-6 years old should have a LINED dry erase white board or two, the recommended alphabet set that contains multiple upper and lower case letters in the kit, [see Supply List below], dry eraser markers [dark] and eraser. Learners 7-9 should have a white board, dry eraser markers [dark] and eraser, a notebook dedicated for new concepts learned and for notes taken in this class, pencil/pen, and an actual dictionary to learn dictionary skills [a lost skill with every thing online these days].

Essential reading and writing skills will be taught that will help learners use the text to answer questions, describe how characters affect stories and the role they play, begin to understand logical connections and write their own sentences, paragraphs and stories. We'll have fun too, reading fun stories together, crosswords, puzzles, fill-in-the blanks activities, pair reading, singing and playing fun educational games appropriate to the learner's level and ability. For learners 7-9 years old, instruction will include, but not limited to sentence structure, 3-5 sentence paragraph writing, reading comprehension, spelling, all aspects of the writing process including poems, nursery rhymes and short stories.

It is highly encouraged that learners continue their private 1-on-1 private tutoring week after week for a period of time until the learner has grown to their expected reading and comprehension level. A third and fourth lessons can be added if parents feel their learner needs addition 1:1 teaching.

For academic purposes, cameras and mics must be working and turned on for the duration of each lesson.

Learners can enroll in private tutoring classes three times a week if they so desire.
