This is an ongoing private class. Price is for one 55min session for one student per week.
Our private classes are open to beginners, intermediate and advanced learners. You can select from the Availability calendar to enroll. If you need a specific schedule, please message us directly from our organization profile.

Portfolio Development: If you are an aspiring artist looking to build a portfolio for art school or a professional career, we can help you create a strong and impressive body of work.

Students will learn how to illustrate designer sketches like the runway looks. We will start with the foundation layer creating the basic croqui, slowly introducing different poses and body types.  Students will learn the basics of clothing, detail drawings in terms of textile characteristics, classification of clothing structures, and how various types of fabric fold and move differently. Finally they will explore adding patterns, prints and embellishments through swatches and applying it to clothes, rendering textures like glitter, shine, leather, and matte finishes. They will master how to apply such knowledge to properly draw the clothed body.
Learning Goals
By the end of this class, students will master the skills needed to create a captivating fashion portfolio. From crafting fundamental croquis to detailing various poses, body types, and fabric characteristics, students will explore the nuances of clothing design enabling them to develop a comprehensive and visually stunning fashion portfolio that showcases their unique design perspective.

Teacher Palm is a professional fashion and costume designer familiar with the complete product creation life cycle from initial concept to constructed design. She holds a degree in Fashion Design from The Parsons School of Design in New York. In addition to over 10 years of teaching art and fashion, she is also experienced in staging collections in numerous international Fashion Shows for luxury clients including Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, Ann Taylor and Kenneth Cole. She gained valuable industry experience in the capacity of Creative Consultant for designers, theaters and art schools. Palm is also proficient in a wide range of fine arts such as watercolor, oil, pencil, pastel, etc. and approaches her teachings with a calm mind, optimism and positive affirmation.

Teacher Katie is a professional artist with a background rooted in animation, where she crafts captivating illustrations for a diverse clientele. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Entertainment Arts and Animation, and utilizes her love of telling stories through her work in story-boarding, illustration, and animation. Her passion in theatrical and costume design and the entertainment industry in general has contributed to an innovative approach in her teaching as well as inspired many students that she met in her classes. Teacher Katie is committed to nurturing an atmosphere of intrigue and creativity, where she empowers her students to unearth their unique narratives within their artistic work.

Teacher Ang is a professional artist and 3D Modeler. She earned her BFA in Animation from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Aside from working as a Freelance Gameplay Animator and 3D Artist, she loves encouraging her students’ curiosity and helping them develop a passion for art. She strives to teach students skills that can bring their voices and ideas to reality. She believes that by building a foundational skill set, her students will be able to approach their artworks with new perspectives.
