Class Experience
This is a one-time private class. I will work one-on-one with students in this class to improve their conversational and social skills. Learners will develop skills to help them initiate important and necessary conversations in everyday life. These necessary conversations include answering phone calls and making appointments, preparing for important phone calls, calling in a food order, how to accept/decline an invitation, and more. Teens should feel comfortable when making appointments on the phone, answering calls, and conversing with strangers. Learning these skills will help establish independence so that students can have these necessary conversations with confidence. Students are taught with slides, an interactive lecture, and role-play to practice conversations. It will give parents peace of mind to know that their kids have learned these important life skills that they will need starting now and into adulthood. This is a live class and will last for approximately 30 minutes. The following topics will be covered: Making Phone Calls -How to order food from a menu -How to call to order food -How to call a store for an item -How to accept/decline an invite Text Conversations -Texting Etiquette -Sending condolences by text -Sending congratulations by text -How to accept/decline invitations via text -When to call vs. text

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Michelle Shannon. I am an etiquette coach, mompreneur and author of several books about etiquette and manners. I have 3 children. I love to cook, read books, teach and shop. I teach etiquette classes for children and teens. I help make children aware of the connections between kindness and proper manners. I also help make children more comfortable in social situations by teaching them to be more aware of when and how to use proper manners.
I have worked with children for over 16 years teaching children proper manners and how to be more confident while building social skills. I work with children in a one-on-one or group setting. I create small and large events like tea parties and classes at department stores to teach girls proper manners for young ladies. I also have experience working in a classroom setting assisting with teaching children and creating lesson plans. I often visit classrooms, schools, churches and events to teach people about the importance of etiquette and proper manners. Also, I'm a homeschooling parent. My daughter is now in high school. I have been homeschooling my daughter for several years.
In my opinion, as a society we may not be doing the best job teaching children proper manners. An etiquette coach will make them aware of the rules that should be followed in today's society. I think it's important to teach our children about etiquette and proper manners so that they won't get embarrassed in social situations and to prepare them for a successful future.
I was invited to a studio in Beverly Hills where I auditioned to have my own reality show about etiquette. They decided not to go through with the show.
