Class Experience

**Scheduling by request only at this time. Please message me directly for availability**

This is a private tutoring class open to music students of all instrument types and skill levels. Classes are taught at the student's current level while encouraging them to progress and gain confidence in their music reading and analysis skills. Students of all skill levels are welcome to enroll, from beginning note readers to AP Music Theory students and prospective music majors!

Examples of topics that we can work on together in this class include:
Beginner-Level note reading, basic rhythm patterns, reading in treble and bass clef, simple chord progressions.

Intermediate-level chord analysis, the circle of fifths, complex rhythmic patterns, musical forms.

Advanced-level ear-training, modal theory, historical analysis, AP Music Theory exam prep and pre-college music theory prep.

Students are welcome to request lessons on a specific music theory topic (i.e. the Circle of Fifths, practice with reading rhythm, exam prep), or they may request to learn about a specific type or piece of music (i.e. how to analyze a Beethoven symphony, Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, how to analyze modernist music). I can also provide an assessment to determine your learner's current level if you are unsure where they should start with their music theory practice.

Homework
Students receive homework assignments as part of their private music theory classes. They are expected to complete their assignment(s) before their next lesson. Completed assignments should be uploaded to the classroom or messaged to me directly as an attachment so that I can gauge their comprehension and any areas for improvement.

Required Materials
Access to a printer and a pencil is recommended. Colored pencils are very useful but not required.
As a music analysis class, students do not need to come to class with an instrument, but having access to a piano keyboard can be helpful.
Learning Goals
Students will expand their understanding of music notation, forms, structures, and styles in a lesson personalized to their current skill level.
