Class Experience

This class is available for students who would like one-to-one tutoring in Music, from Beginner to Intermediate level. This may be to fill in tricky skills, supplement a particular class or prepare for an exam (such as ABRSM grades, GCSE Music, or AP Music Theory), or it may be to allow a learner-focused approach to exploring the interests in music.

Depending on the level of each individual student, the class content may range from an introduction to reading music, through skills such as understanding scales, chords, cadences, transposing in different clefs/for different instruments, or analysing the features of pieces of music.

Please message if you would like to discuss particular subject/topic requirements for your learner. The class is available as a one-time or ongoing 1:1 class! Click "check availability" to schedule based on my standard availability, or send a message with your desired timeframe, day of the week, and time zone.

The class will be adapted to the requirements of the student, and will likely involve consolidating work from other classes/study, or reaching beyond the syllabus for additional learning. Learners may request lessons on a particular topic, and/or bring along material they want to discuss during the class time.

You do not need to play an instrument or take singing lessons to study music theory, but with some topics, it helps if you're happy to clap or sing/hum some notes.

Teaching methods will include guided questioning, discussion, mini games/quizzes, and exam question practice. Worksheets may be provided where relevant to the topics being discussed. Regular ongoing lessons are also available on request.
