Class Experience

Mini private ukulele lessons. 1-on-1 instruction individualized to each learner's unique needs, level and goals. Perfect for learners who wish to try private lessons, learners who get tired fingers easily, complete beginners or even intermediate players or advanced players who are looking to develop new skills and further their technique. Also a great way to receive extra support and assistance with tuning the ukulele or a chord/song/skill learned in a group ukulele class or private lesson. No previous ukulele experience or knowledge is required.

Possible topics that will be worked on:
-How to hold the ukulele
-How to tune the ukulele
-Playing position and rest position
-How to strum
-Proper hand and finger position
-How to read chords, tab, and music notation
-How to play chords
-How to count and play chord patterns on the ukulele
-How to play songs using chords
-How to play melodies

Bring your ukulele and any music that you may be working on! I will also provide you with exercises and songs for your skill level during our lesson.

I encourage family members to assist their learners if needed during the first lesson, but to remain off-screen during this class per Outschool policy. Frequent modeling, clear directions, and repetition will be used during instruction to maximize students' success. After a student's first lesson, I highly suggest allowing your student to learn and play their instrument independently to allow them to progress into self-sufficient and self-motivated musicians.
Learning Goals
Students will develop and improve their ukulele playing position, strumming, hand and finger position, ability to play songs using chords, and melody playing. They will also improve their rhythm, counting, music reading, and pattern recognition.

I am a certified music educator with a M.A in Music & Music Education. I fell in love with the ukulele over a decade ago, and have been playing and teaching it ever since. I have been teaching group ukulele classes for 10 years. I also have taught private music lessons for 15 years. I love this instrument and specialize in teaching beginning instrumental music lessons to young beginners. The ukulele is a happy instrument, so my goal is to make learning the ukulele fun and frustration-free.
