1:1 Math Tutoring and Test Prep Grades 9-12

This 1:1 tutoring is meant to help students prepare themselves for the SATs and other Standardized tests. Test taking is hard for a lot high school learners and the pressure stresses them out and makes it all the more difficult. I want to help students understand the fundamentals of math in a way that simplifies it for them and gives them a real world understanding for it's application.

My lessons will be structured in one of two ways, depending on the students need:
    Homework help. The student has an assignment they are struggling with and need some assistance with understanding the material.
    Test prep. The student has an understanding of the material but wants to practice and prepare, making sure the concepts are understandable so they are prepared to apply them on their own.

With that structure in mind, I am here to assist with Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics and Probability. And when I say assist, that is what my teaching style is like.

My teaching style focuses on student strengths and student needs. Lots of teachers write equations on the board and tell students to memorize them. That isn't really useful for most students. I want to focus on the strengths the student already has and build off of them, giving them an actual understanding of the topic so they feel confident in their own knowledge. By working through problems together step by step, they can grow to understand the process on their own and will be able to excel in school and in their career after graduation.
