Description

Class Experience

This 1:1 tutoring class is designed for meeting the needs of a 6th-grade or equivalent student in Literacy. 
We will begin with a focus on well-formed sentences and move on to well-formed paragraphs for writing. We will practice writing in different genres and various types of writing prompts. We will also practice breaking a writing prompt apart to figure out what it is asking and creating an effective plan for the writing. 
For reading, we will work to build an understanding of the text and...

Students will improve writing and reading skills at the 6th-grade level.

There may be occasional outside class activities.

The learner should keep a notebook and folder of all work done. This can be done in the way that best works for the learner but materials will be referenced multiple times.

Students are assessed against the grade-level standards. Writing assessments can be done through rubrics and checklists. Reading assessment can be through formal and informal assessments, including quiz questions, games, and written responses.

55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

All topics will be appropriate for a 6th-grade student. I am always willing to discuss the unique needs of the learner.
