Description
Class Experience
When getting your first job as a teen, there are so many things to consider, but it all starts with a great resume. Yes, even if you've had no other jobs, you can have a resume! No matter where you are applying, your first stop will be sending a resume to a Human Resources Professional. This 1:1 class cuts that first middle-man out of the equation, letting you sit down with a HR Pro for a resume crafting, or perfecting, session. Whether we start with a base resume from school or blank...
This class is taught in English.
Students will learn to create an outstanding resume to land a first job as a teen. They will learn proper layout, grammar, categorization, and presentation.
Anna Hayford works in Human Resources for an Engineering Firm. She is also a Certified Safety Management Practitioner.
The student will need to complete personal contact information on the resume after class ends, for their safety. They will be given the instructions on how to complete this.
If the student already has a resume started, we ask that they bring that to class, but with personal contact information removed prior. The student will leave with a resume!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
To create their resume, students will be choosing a template either from Google Slides or Canva.com. They will need access to a (free) Gmail account or a (free) Canva.com account to complete the project at home. Students will not fill in the personal contact information section of the resume while in class. They will be given instructions on how to complete that section after class at home, with permission of their parents.
The content of the advice given will be sourced from the Society for Human Resources (SHRM): https://www.shrm.org/ Templates will be sourced from Canva: http://canva.com and Google Slides: http://slides.google.com
