Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
1:1 tutoring is an outstanding option for students who need extra help, are looking to be challenged, need direction, and/or help managing their time.

Note: I do not tutor English as a second language, nor I do not teach learners how to speak the English Language.

Each session is designed with the learner in mind, and is tailored to the individual needs of the learner.

Learners and I can work on-

- reading and reading comprehension
- writing (essays, creative writing, analysis, research)
- the writing process
- spelling, grammar and punctuation (I specialize in grammar and vocabulary)
- ELA homework
- test prep (for high school level exams. I can do college preps like SAT, ACT as a specialized class)
- reading for enjoyment
- writing without fear
- building skills
- building confidence
- study skills & time management (I have a few techniques that can help with multiple subject areas)
- organization
- growth mindset

Learn Styles and Individuality

Along with the topics and skills I teach, each class is structured according to how the learner learns best. (I cover visual, auditory, and kinetic) We all learn differently and need different approaches. In our session I may-

- read out loud to them
- read with them (taking turns)
- have them read out loud
- assign reading and writing outside of class and use our class time for review and discussion
- write with students
- scribe for students
- have students write outside of class and use class time for review and editing
- assign and assess projects

Our sessions can also be designed to focus on both reading and writing. They can also shift and change over time. Whatever your learner needs at the moment is what we'll focus on.

Interest and Motivation
To help students stay motivated and interested, I often use games (Gimkit) and interactive slides during the lesson. Gimkit gives me a percentage answered correctly or incorrectly at the end of the game which allows me to check for understanding.

Teaching Style
My main goal is always to help your learner learn and feel confident in the skills they are learning and/or having a hard time mastering. I will check in with students each class to make sure we are staying on track with what they need. I also check in with parents often to let them know what I am seeing, what we're working on, and to find out if there are other things teachers/parents are noticing. It's important we are all on the same page. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to contact me or talk to me during their child's session or via outschool messages. I typically reply to Outschool messages within 24 hours. (most of the time I reply almost immediately.)
Learners and I will be interacting for the entire session. They are always welcome to message me on Outschool in-between our sessions.

I tutor many students each week. I hope I can work with your learner soon!
Learning Goals
I will suppliment anything learners may be struggling with in high school English. Turn your day into an A.
