Description
Class Experience
Learners will improve their handwriting legibility based on their specific area(s) of need.
I have been a pediatric/school-based occupational therapist since 2017 and a Handwriting Without Tears® Certified Handwriting Specialist since 2018. I have experience providing handwriting instruction in-person as well as in virtual settings. As an occupational therapist and handwriting tutor, I have been addressing handwriting skills on a daily basis for several years, which has provided a me a high level of expertise in the topic of handwriting. I also have been an online ESL teacher since 2018.
While homework will not be assigned, it is recommended that learners practice class activities for 10-15 minutes 3-4x per week outside of class to promote carryover.
1 file available upon enrollmentMinimum required materials: A pencil with an eraser, a computer mouse (if not taking class on a tablet), a small whiteboard with marker OR chalkboard with chalk, and 3-lined writing paper (up to age 8) OR single-lined writing/notebook paper (above age 8). I am able to provide a document of printable writing paper if necessary. Please have these materials as well as the completed handwriting concerns checklist (in the welcome post) ready for our first class! *Please also make sure you have your learner's environment set up in a way that I am able to see his/her hands and paper during writing activities (i.e. computer angled downward, external webcam angled downward, parent holding tablet, etc.). Additional materials will vary based on your learner’s needs and the areas being addressed each week. We can be flexible with materials used (most will be household objects). I will provide details prior to each class. Please let me know if you do not have access to a printer.
Progress will be informally assessed based on learner writing samples.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
