Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Beginner - Advanced Level
- What sets me apart and how I will make a big difference to your family -

*** 1. As of October 2024, I helped one of my students score in the top 2% or 98th percentile in his Advanced Honors Math class, as evidenced in 1 of my positive reviews and testimonials. Besides being ahead of his peers, he claimed he learned more advanced and fundamental math concepts, in addition to study, critical thinking, and test-taking skills from me than his other educators. This process happened within a shorter amount of time, which demonstrates my efficiency and effectiveness, saving you valuable time and perhaps money. I have a few other good, wonderful students who claimed I was their best tutor because they had tried a few other top options before finally locking onto me, in other positive reviews and testimonials.

2. Please understand such high scores and grades are also a combination of luck and external factors, and therefore, I do not guarantee this performance for most or all my students. Besides demonstrating my talent and the ability to "do the impossible or miracles", it's also to reassure you that your child will improve in some form upon working with me. As for how much, it will depend on various factors, which I could further discuss with you in our future sessions.

3. I guarantee your children will have a permanent, strong foundation in the subject. They will not fall behind, and if anything, be ahead of their peers by at least some margin. In addition, they will never gain unnecessary knowledge, which is often due to our education system, and they will be able to apply everything they learn to higher education or college. Finally, they will develop good habits in the process, such that they will never have to unlearn anything, whether the material itself or the process they approach and think about the concepts.

*** 4. Ultimately, your family will save valuable time and perhaps money in the process, because assuming if we are a good match, you won't have to find a new tutor, let alone spending extra time and money fixing problems accumulated from having a rough start. Most of my students, whether past or present, started with plenty of complications, often stemming from their weak foundation. As a result, we also rewired their inefficient and ineffective ways of thinking about the concepts. Because everything is for sake of your family, I will dedicate my utmost care and passion to do what is necessary to take us to the next level. That would be my mission and vision, such that I go above and beyond for your family.

- Courtesy Introduction -

1. First lesson free if it's unhelpful and we're not a good fit. Guaranteed better math and study skills after 5 plus sessions. Feel confident using simple tips and strategies while taking shortcuts to learn concepts and problem solving.

*** 2. Out of courtesy, we could extend our session to fulfill all urgent requests you have, such as preparing for quizzes, tests or final exams within the same week. The bonus time past the original time frame will be free of cost to you. Beyond that, such as needing 2-5 sessions to finish everything we need to do, please schedule them, and we will still offer you bonus, free time to maximize our effectiveness and time. As a result, we will produce quality work and performance.

- General Topics and Themes of Course -

*** 1. This class will go over anything math related upon the family's request. Specifically, we may cover past, current and future homework, quizzes, study guides or reviews, exams, standardized tests, or any other math material outside of class.

2. We will also study the specific, easy tips that make learning formulas and concepts easier.

I'll personalized lessons that skip various Algebra and Geometry textbook explanations because they contain extras not useful for future, advanced math.

Through practice and mastery, the student will finish all questions, whether for quizzes, tests or exams, on time and under pressure, instead of feeling anxiety or stress while leaving some blank.

*** 3. Furthermore, we'll also cover outside life skills, such as time management, organization (both lead to effective prioritizing), study (using lesser time to remember more material and retain them longer), test-taking strategies (making educated guesses on multiple choice or fill in the blank, free response tests and exams), speaking (clear and impactful communication), writing (concisely with flow), handwriting, note-taking (quality notes prevent confusion or questioning, which reduces studying time and energy spent), debate (the ability to question reasonably and expand one's curiosity), and social skills (this may or may not be applicable, depending on the student and I, as the educator, develop our best-fit relationship), so the student gains crucial qualities leading up to college, or rather, for the rest of their lives.

4. We'll attend 1+ session a week, or it may vary according to the parents and students' preference, depending on their strengths and weaknesses.

5. We'll ensure the student understands the current material before moving forward. If the student doesn't understand right away, we'll patiently explain the concept from another perspective, so the student feels comfortable. We may always revisit past material for clarity or reminder.

6. The student will have the freedom to always interrupt the instructor and ask questions if something doesn't make sense.

- Some Specific Topics and Themes of Course -

1. We'll learn the strategy of "estimating" and rule out answers far from our estimation and lock onto the one closest to it. We also develop our math intuition this way.

2. For variables, we'll understand how to separate 2, such as x and y, and deal with them in each of their simple ways without confusion.

3. For graphs and geometric shapes, we'll help you visualize the different types of lines, slopes and angles easier in your mind. We'll draw them correctly with our new, shortcut technique.

4. For word problems, we will learn how to scan and skim through paragraphs and gather the valuable, numeric information within lesser time.

- Important Logistical Notes Before Our First Meeting -

1. Please schedule 1+ days in advance because sometimes the system blocks same day or 1 day scheduling.

If you message me about a private meeting at a specific time slot, I would be glad to work with you although you have to understand it may not work, and the more time you give us, the better.

2. Please send what you would like us to cover, whether your school online material or photos of physical paperwork or book pages, through the Outschool Conversations Messages to me before our meeting, ideally 1+ days in advance to prevent technical difficulties.

More importantly, 1+ days allow me to review your material and either ask questions if needed, or give you a full refund to save you time.

***If you include an answer key, it will save us both valuable time in terms of you getting your money's worth for the session. Solving the problem completely from scratch is not always a good thing, and it does not necessarily demonstrate clear understanding of the material. Being able to solve the problem in a faster, shorter and easier way is a good sign of mastery, and the answer key helps us do that.

***Please make sure all files and photos are clear (good lighting, no blur) and zoomed in (minimum 2+ photos per 1 page, either 1 for each half, or literally 1 photo per small section of 1 page (or 4+ photos per 1 page recommended); 1 photo per 1 page would be zoomed out and not zoomed in enough, and you will witness for yourself through our zoom screen share) because there is no feature to zoom in later, which means you will have to retake them if the video screen share shows the contents either too small or blurry.

3. If you must reschedule, please do it 2+ days in advance because the more last minute you wait, the more we may not be able to reschedule due to system blocks.

When that's the case, please understand I'm trying to help you, and if you cannot get a refund because it's outside the Outschool 24-hour window policy, you would have to contact support because it's beyond my ability to assist at that point.

4. According to Outschool Policy, if the student arrives late to the meeting by 10 minutes, the instructor may leave and you will be stuck with a paid session without a refund.

In my case, I am willing to wait up to 20 minutes before leaving, so please make sure you are not too late because that's the best I could do for you. In addition, the session will still end on time, without any makeup time regardless of how much time we lost due to any reason, so please understand the session could have rightfully been cancelled on my end although out of courtesy to you, we will make the best of the shorter time.

5. If the student has a medical or lawful reason for wanting the camera off the whole lesson, please let me know in advance. Normally, it might be better for you to find another educator, although if your case is special, I am willing to work with you. Ideally, you would be comfortable with turning on your camera the whole time, so that our experience and interaction would be more effective and engaging. Knowing our surroundings and environment would improve your learning and progress.
