Do you like to play Games? We will be playing games using a new list of vocabulary words each week. This class is done in a similar manner as my spelling classes, students will read and learn new vocabulary words and their definitions each week. Then we will play interactive online games on a couple of theses sites: nearpod, kahoot, blooket, gimit. These games do not require a login or email, a code/link will be given in class to join the games. Students will be asked during the games questions about the definitions and use of the vocabulary the class went over at the beginning of class. This class is at a (Grade 2) level. , focusing on teaching students to read, write, and define vocabulary words with each lesson. In class students will write and read the words given and their definition. Another device is recommended but not required to play these games during class time. The other option is students can join in the game on the same device they are in class on. Parents need to be sure their students have paper and something to write with at the beginning of each class. After class a worksheet will be provided with some activities students can complete for further practice, which will include a story for students to practice reading and answering comprehension questions about the story on their own. Students can take a picture of their answers to the questions and share it in the classroom if they wish. Game links will be provided for further practice in the above mentioned online games.
