What's included

2 live meetings
1 hrs 40 mins in-class hours per week
Homework
1 hour per week. Generally, homework will consist of writing assignments to be completed outside of class time. Since learners make better connections editing with teacher support instead of writing with teacher support, direct instruction of a writing skill and editing homework with an emphasis on the skill in question are usually more effective uses of class time. With that said, every student is different and all classes will be personalized not only in academic focus areas but also in individualized instruction.
Assessment
This class will not be assessed. I am always happy to discuss learner progress, lesson plans and learning goals with families!

Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Beginner Level
These private tutoring sessions will be individualized lessons designed to overcome learning struggles and intensify learning skills.
I will work together with you, the parent, to create personalized and meaningful learning opportunities for each class. Since I am a special education teacher, I understand how to pinpoint student needs and fill in learning gaps for steady progress toward academic success.
All areas of Language Arts will be covered on an as needed basis: reading fluency and comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and writing in a variety of forms.
During writing instruction, beginning-level learners will create solid sentences while intermediate students will compose a good paragraph that includes excellent word choice, transitions, grammar and punctuation. More experienced learners will compose longer essays with an emphasis on understanding thesis and these three parts: introduction, body and conclusion.
Spelling instruction, when applicable, will consist of learning spelling "rules" and not rote memorization. Since English is a conglomeration of several languages, knowing how and when to use certain spelling combinations is key toward spelling proficiency.
I am always available to help assist with homework, too!
Learning Goals
The learner will improve reading fluency and/or comprehension, writing skills as appropriate to developmental level, and confidence in the entire area of Language Arts.
