Description
Class Experience
Students will become more comfortable communicating (mainly speaking, listening, and reading in this trial class) in English. After our class, your family will be provided with English learning goals to work on with me in future classes.
I have over 10 years of experience teaching English Language Learners, both in person and online, at the elementary, middle, and high school levels (and beyond.) Most recently, I taught at an international school in Taiwan, and before that, I taught non-native English speakers in the public school system in South Korea. I also have experience teaching group video and individual phone English lessons with students in other countries. In addition to my professional educator certificate in the state of Florida, I have a 100-hour TEFL certificate, as well as specialized certificates for Teaching English Online, Teaching Teenagers, IELTS, and TOEIC.
A pencil and paper may come in handy if you want to take any notes
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
I will give verbal feedback to the student during our class time together. After we finish our first class, I will provide parents with more detailed feedback about what English level would be a good fit and what types of classes and curriculum options are available with me going forward.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students do not need to sign up for any additional accounts for this class. I will use materials from Crystal Clear ESL and/or ESL Pals exclusively via screenshare. You may read the Privacy Policy for Crystal Clear ESL here: https://esl-curriculum.com/privacy-policy/ (Note that any personal data collected only refers to me as the instructor using the materials and not to your child.) You may read the Privacy Policy for ESL Pals here: https://eslpals.com/privacy
If students are unsure of their English level, we will start with a Level Diagnostic from Crystal Clear ESL (https://esl-curriculum.com/). If families already know the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) level of the child, we can jump right in with a lesson from the appropriate level from ESL Pals (https://eslpals.com/). Whenever a student takes this class with me, I will maintain an active subscription to the site(s) used, which gives me the ability to use the source material in my classes.
