Beginner Level
ESL Curriculum for Beginners: Level 1 One-on-one, private English as a second language lessons for young learners. Learners will be introduced to themed vocabulary. Learners will practice pronunciation and be able to identify the word and its meaning and use it in context. While learning vocabulary, students will also be practising their listening and comprehension skills. Students will learn English vocabulary and basic grammar in this fun and engaging course. Class material is presented and reviewed through interactive games, drawing, and play-acting making it ideal for young learners! The vocabulary in this course will be learned through exaggerated facial expressions, TPR (total physical response), pictures, games, and props to help your child make associations between the new words and their meaning. I will speak slowly and clearly and model sentence frames and vocabulary for the student. After modelling the sentence frames we will practice. I keep my classes small so that every child in attendance has plenty of opportunities to practice the new vocabulary and build their confidence in a small class environment. The themes for the classes are as follows: Lessons 1-2: Hello- Conversation in the context of greeting people in different ways. What’s your name? -Introducing yourself and exchanging names. How are you? -Discuss how you are feeling. Goodbye! -Choose appropriate phrases for the situation.
