- Courtesy Introduction - *** 1. If you are interested in this class and don't see your preferred days and time slots, please message me to create and reserve them exclusively for you. If you are able to bring in a small group to join your student, you gain top priority status. One-on-one students are welcomed at the same listed price. This class can be during any day and time slot, and I would need your votes and recommendations on the best class period. *** 2. Out of courtesy, we could extend our session to fulfill all urgent requests you have, such as any major applications, essays or interviews within the same week. The bonus time past the original time frame will be free of cost to you. Beyond that, such as needing 2-5 sessions to finish everything we need to do, please schedule them, and we will still offer you bonus, free time to maximize our effectiveness and time. As a result, we will produce quality work and performance. - What sets me apart and how I will make a big difference to your family - 1. I guarantee your children will have a permanent, strong foundation in skills and education. They will not fall behind, and if anything, be ahead of their peers by at least some margin. In addition, they will never gain unnecessary knowledge, which is often due to our education system, and they will be able to apply everything they learn to higher education or college. This further extends beyond toward their careers. Finally, they will develop good habits in the process, such that they will never have to unlearn anything, whether the material itself or the process they approach and think about the concepts. *** 2. Ultimately, your family will save valuable time and perhaps money in the process, because assuming if we are a good match, you won't have to find a new tutor or coach, let alone spending extra time and money fixing problems accumulated from having a rough start. Most of my students, whether past or present, started with plenty of complications, often stemming from their weak foundation. As a result, we also rewired their inefficient and ineffective ways of thinking about the concepts. Because everything is for sake of your family, I will dedicate my utmost care and passion to do what is necessary to take us to the next level. That would be my mission and vision, such that I go above and beyond for your family. - General Topics and Themes of Course - 1. I hope all my knowledge and experiences (from professional training as a college admission, reader officer while at the University of California, Berkeley (Cal UC Berkeley) and Stanford University, will make your dreams of going to an Ivy League or top, elite college come true. Before that, we will help you gain admission to elite, private middle and high schools. After that, because you are still young, career prep may be early although if you are ahead, we may prepare you for prestigious internships. I also received acceptance to Ivy League Universities such as Harvard and Princeton, so I know their admissions system, including other private, elite colleges. In the end, I chose Stanford University because I wanted to remain in the Bay Area, California. *** 2. Summary - We will complete and edit any form of school and/or scholarship application and personal statement essay, ranging from middle school to high school to college. In addition, we could strategize your extracurricular activities, volunteering experiences and internships, leading up until this application process, in order to significantly boost your chances of acceptance. ***Speaking of internships, we will also prepare you for such prestigious opportunities, whether through applications, interviews, and the work/knowledge within the internship or job itself. In the end, everything we cover does not need to be for the sole purpose of college, schools, or careers and rather, self-improvement for your own well-being, whether physical, mental, and emotional health. Furthermore, you will develop charismatic and strong qualities, such that you will exhibit leadership and alpha personas through our mock interviews. *** 3. As for scholarships, we will first determine whether you are eligible based on your family's income. If you're above the cut-off, even though you won't get a scholarship, we will fight for your admission to your dream school, assuming your family will fully cover the costs. And if you're eligible, we will do our best to make sure you get both although securing your spot on the admission list or waitlist is priority. 4. You will also gain the self-confidence and self-esteem through mock interviews to develop greater social and life skills, which will then pave your future, whether through university or not. By regulating your mental and emotional health, you will embody leadership qualities. Your public speaking, communication and writing will be loud and clear, in addition to sounding smart and reasonable. 5. We'll also cover outside life skills such as time management, organization (both lead to effective prioritizing), study (using lesser time to remember more material and retain them longer), test-taking strategies (making educated guesses on multiple choice or fill in the blank, free response tests and exams), speaking (clear and impactful communication), writing (concisely with flow), handwriting, note-taking (quality notes prevent confusion or questioning, which reduces studying time and energy spent), debate (the ability to question reasonably and expand one's curiosity), and social skills (this may or may not be applicable, depending on the student and I, as the educator, develop our best-fit relationship), so the student gains crucial qualities leading up to college, or rather, for the rest of their lives, in addition to having an impressive resume of extracurricular activities. 6. We'll attend 1 session a week, or it may vary according to the parents and students' preference, depending on their strengths and weaknesses. 7. We'll ensure the student understands the current material before moving forward. If the student doesn't understand right away, we'll patiently explain the concept from another perspective, so the student feels comfortable. We may always revisit past material for clarity or reminder. 8. The student will have the freedom to always interrupt the instructor and ask questions if something doesn't make sense. - Some Specific Topics and Themes of Course - 1. For the personal statement and/or scholarship essay, we'll learn the tone and language to engage the application reader, while emphasizing the sentence structure and word choice to strengthen our paper. We'll also perfect your life story through powerful and advanced writing, to make you stand out among the thousands of applicants. Lastly, we'll strategize your extracurricular activities in order to reinforce your grades and test scores. When all factors align, admission to at least the waitlist of your private school is essentially guaranteed. 2. We'll understand how certain elements play an important role to your school's diversity. 3. There may be college-approved level courses or programs outside your school we could attend to make your academic status stand out among thousands of other students. We'll strategize this. 4. Ideally, if you have access to prestigious internships or work-programs, even as a minor, it will significantly boost your chances among other outstanding applicants. We'll discuss how you may partake in these opportunities. - Important Logistical Notes Before Our First Meeting - 1. Please schedule 1+ days in advance because sometimes the system blocks same day or 1 day scheduling. If you message me about a private meeting at a specific time slot, I would be glad to work with you although you have to understand it may not work, and the more time you give us, the better. 2. Please send what you would like us to cover, whether your school online material or photos of physical paperwork or book pages, through the Outschool Conversations Messages to me before our meeting, ideally 1+ days in advance to prevent technical difficulties. More importantly, 1+ days allow me to review your material and either ask questions if needed, or give you a full refund to save you time. ***If you include a list of your extracurricular activities, work/volunteering experiences, and relevant information from your bio, it will save us both valuable time in terms of you getting your money's worth for the session. ***Please make sure all files and photos are clear (good lighting, no blur) and zoomed in (minimum 2+ photos per 1 page, either 1 for each half, or literally 1 photo per small section of 1 page (or 4+ photos per 1 page recommended); 1 photo per 1 page would be zoomed out and not zoomed in enough, and you will witness for yourself through our zoom screen share) because there is no feature to zoom in later, which means you will have to retake them if the video screen share shows the contents either too small or blurry. 3. If you must reschedule, please do it 2+ days in advance because the more last minute you wait, the more we may not be able to reschedule due to system blocks. When that's the case, please understand I'm trying to help you, and if you cannot get a refund because it's outside the Outschool 24-hour window policy, you would have to contact support because it's beyond my ability to assist at that point. 4. According to Outschool Policy, if the student arrives late to the meeting by 10 minutes, the instructor may leave and you will be stuck with a paid session without a refund. In my case, I am willing to wait up to 20 minutes before leaving, so please make sure you are not too late because that's the best I could do for you. In addition, the session will still end on time, without any makeup time regardless of how much time we lost due to any reason, so please understand the session could have rightfully been cancelled on my end although out of courtesy to you, we will make the best of the shorter time. 5. If the student has a medical or lawful reason for wanting the camera off the whole lesson, please let me know in advance. Normally, it might be better for you to find another educator, although if your case is special, I am willing to work with you. Ideally, you would be comfortable with turning on your camera the whole time, so that our experience and interaction would be more effective and engaging. Knowing our surroundings and environment would improve your learning and progress.
