1:1 Elementary Math Tutoring / Homework Help (Grades 1-5)

Is your child struggling in math or do they need extra support with homework after school? If so, this is the perfect class for you!

This class will provide resources for students who are seeking assistance with math homework and test preparation, or those who just need some extra help with current math concepts/lessons. The class is structured as a 1-on-1 personalized private tutoring session.  This tutoring session covers 1st to 5th grade (ages 7-11) and focuses on elementary math. A few examples of sessions/topics may include multiplication facts, division, fractions, decimals, place value or word problems.

My tutoring lessons are carefully customized to each student's unique learning style, the skills that he or she needs to learn, his or her academic level, and any specific challenges he or she may have. I ensure a personalized approach that builds confidence and guarantees your child the extra guidance and one-on-one help they may need. My teaching style is very interactive. I engage the student through questions, discussions, hands-on activities, worksheets and even some videos, when applicable.

I will review the math topic/skill that your child needs help with beforehand. I will then provide him or her with a refresher of the skill, have he or she ask me any questions, and then assist with homework or projects, if necessary. We will practice the specific skill with the intent to achieve a master understanding of it. I want students to understand the topic, concepts and content, so that they can go to school the next day feeling happy, accomplished and confident! Parents are also welcome to join the class/tutoring session, so that they can help their child with homework as well.

Before each session, I would like parents to send me the skills that their child is working on or struggling with so that I can create an interactive lesson centered around that topic. Each tutoring session/class will meet for 60 minutes and is available for as long as parents and the students need it. These sessions can also take place multiple times per week depending on needs.  Please just let me know what you would like and we can arrange it.  Below is the structure of the class.
 
Structure:
Introduction (5-10 minutes): Briefly review concepts and skills we want to work on. 

Teaching and Practice (40 minutes): Teach the concept using visual aids, examples, and interactive exercises. Provide guided practice and immediate feedback. Have students ask questions. 

Review and Wrap-Up (5-10 minutes): Recap what was learned. Ask if there are any last-minute questions. If another tutoring session is to occur, let me know what skills you would like to work on.
