1-2 hours per week. Because I work with students to create individual plans, some may opt for homework, some may opt to complete a project. I might suggest that they read a book to support their interests. Some students might want to show me that they practiced their instrument for the amount of time their music teacher requires.

My coaching in the arts encompasses guiding and nurturing the creative talents of individuals in various artistic disciplines, such as architecture, photography, music, dance, theater, and visual arts. This process involves honing technical skills and fostering creativity, confidence, and self-expression.

Effective arts coaching requires a deep understanding of the specific art form and the ability to inspire and motivate artists to push their boundaries and explore new possibilities. I love exploring creative possibilities!

I tailor their approaches to meet each student's unique needs and goals, providing personalized feedback and support. By cultivating a supportive and stimulating environment, I aim to help young creatives refine their craft and achieve their full potential.

Most meetings will be very relaxed but productive, depending on the needs and goals of the student.

In the first session, we will get to know each other and discuss the student's interests and artistic history. We will begin to lay out a path going forward.

In the second session, after we catch up, I will share a couple of paths, projects, or ideas with the student that I believe will help them reach their goals. (I may support the creative work a student is already doing, provide accountability, listen to their creative ideas, create an individual "course" for them, and provide resources as needed.). For instance, if a student wants to focus on painting or architecture, I will assess where they are and will provide more challenges to try over the following week.

In future sessions, we will catch up, and I will provide guidance that will help the student reach his or her goals.

My teaching style is flexible, creative, funny, and friendly, and it caters to the student's needs.

Hi! Mrs. G. here :).

Do you want to know a little about me?

My husband and I have homeschooled our nine children through high school for over twenty-five years. We have found homeschooling to be hard work yet incredibly successful! Homeschooling ROCKS! Our children have done well. Seven have graduated from high school, and three have graduated from college. We are still homeschooling two:).

I graduated from The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) with a B.S. in Architecture in 1991. For two and half years, I pursued a Master of Theological Studies with a concentration in Liturgical Architecture. I graduated from The Art of Education University with a Master's in Art Education in August 2024.

After graduating from college in the 90s, I worked in two major architecture firms, and as an intern and as a freelance designer. I was competitive in the academic and professional architectural settings.

I began teaching architecture to high school and homeschool students from around the world in 2009 when I created the company Building Brilliant Minds Online School of the Arts. I enjoy teaching many of the "Arts" disciplines because the learning possibilities are endless! Giving students the opportunity to explore the world of Architecture and The Arts “Builds Brilliant Minds”.

So why create courses in the Arts"?

Short Answer:
My response to the gifts God has given me over the years!
It is just what I was created to do.

My Experience in "The Arts"

Entrenched in the field of photography during my late high school and early college days, I earned money for books and entertainment, taking photos and developing negatives. I miss my darkroom days!

Music has always been a primary focus. From the age of twelve until after I graduated from college, I played the organ for our church weekly. In my search as to how to teach my children to play, I learned about Simply Music! Hands down, it's the best "learn to play piano" method EVER! I have never been so excited to teach music. It is all play-based and WOW.. the results.... AMAZING! I began as a Simply Music Teacher in 2016. I teach piano lessons in person, online, and through Outschool in 2021.

As a registered teacher for the Institute of Excellence in Writing since 2016, I have been blessed to help even the most reluctant writing students thrive. So rewarding for all! I have written two articles for "The Old Schoolhouse Magazine." My most recent article was in the March 2024 magazine.

From when I was four until I graduated high school, I danced almost daily. For seven years, I danced in a ballet/jazz dance company on a scholarship. We used to perform every Friday in the schools.

Connecting my interests, I developed a reputation for "dancing and musical architecture" because of the directions I took with college architectural design challenges. For my graduate school capstone, I connected music and the visual arts. My artwork can be seen @ www.chromaticcompositions.com

It wasn't until after high school that I stepped into the musical theatrical world. I've been directing children's musicals since 1990. In the past ten years, I have directed homeschooled kids in musicals, including: "The Enchanted Journey," "Willy Wonka," the "Wizard of Oz," "Annie Jr," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat" and "The Story of the Nutcracker." Helping children find their element on stage has been a blessing!

Blessed with personal experience with Architecture, Art, Design, Theater, Music, Dance, Photography, and Writing, I have used my experience to teach my children and many students from around the world many mediums of "The Arts." Bringing it all together for students and providing them with some of the tools they will need for any design field is one of my greatest joys. Supporting the method and concepts of Teaching for Artistic Behavior through the Arts is a natural extension of my education and teaching experience.
