Description
Class Experience
As we start a new school year, it is important to know how to be a good friend and classmate. What characteristics does a good friend have? Are they good listeners? Helpful? Encouraging? Are they trustworthy? What type of friend are you? To find a good friend, BE a good friend. In this class, we will talk about BEING a great friend to ourselves first, then to others. We will make a Friendship Book together, writing and illustrating what the student feels is important in their friendships and...
Students will identify what is important to them in a friendship and/or classmate and will evaluate if they are a good friend to others. This lesson is also applicable to sibling relationships. Students will leave class with a book they created, stating what they feel a confident friend is.
I taught this Kindness and Confidence Friendship class as a mentor to elementary school students for 13 years. Prior to that I was a Financial Advisor, motivating and managing clients, for 25 years. I am skilled at inclusion and work hard to inspire young people to know and appreciate themselves. I motive others into action, through thoughtful, meaningful conversations and art projects. I love to teach. Please see parent reviews and project pictures on my YET, I AM and Friendship class offering pages. Ms. Leslie will ask parents to help create a very simple (will take less than 5 minutes to create) booklet (1 minute video attached to classroom upon enrollment) out of three pieces of paper and some staples BEFORE class begins. Constructing the book ahead of time will give us more time to talk about friendship.
*Before class: create simple booklet 1. (3) pieces of white paper 2. scissors 3. stapler In class: to Write and decorate 4. Black Sharpie or Marker 5. Pencil 6. Extra piece of paper *1 minute video attached upon enrollment to show you how to create a simple book. The book will take you less than 5 minutes to construct. Thank you for making the book BEFORE class begins. Doing this gives us more time to talk about friendship and more time to create art and stories together. Book takes 3-5 minutes to make.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
