* Yes this class IS available, as a one-time or ongoing 1:1 class! Click "check availability" to auto-schedule based on my standard availability, or reach out with your desired timeframe, day of the week, and time zone. Last minute sessions may be available - message me! * Have you ever wondered how to start a business, or how to turn an idea into a business? Maybe you already have a business but need some helping getting it going more quickly! Join a seasoned business consultant for this an interactive, learner-led, 1:1 support session for those interested in: - Making money - Owning or starting a business - Turning their hobby into a business - Publicizing their hobby through (age appropriate) social media tools - Learning about business management - Starting a Youtube channel (find your niche and where else to market your channel) - Learning about careers or businesses that match your personality and passions Class is learner-led, which means we'll typically chat, brainstorm, and talk about topics raised by the learner, based on my extensive business experience as well as snippets from my other classes. Specific session topics can be arranged in advance via Outschool message (at least 24 hours in advance), or your learner can show up to class with questions and topics they'd like to discuss (if no subject is scheduled, I'll show up ready to chat and brainstorm!) Sessions can cover one or more of the following topics: - Pricing for your product or service - Marketing (traditional marketing vs social media) - Value proposition / elevator pitch (gaining confidence in talking about your business) - Set up costs (realistic costs and how to earn money to pay for them) - Types of businesses that might work for kids - Developing soft skills (public speaking, confidence, self awareness, boundary setting) - Creating a healthy work balance and verbalizing boundaries at work or in your business Older and younger students are welcome - I have experience teaching and working with young entrepreneurs ages 5-18, although I generally recommend ages 8+ for this session, unless you're confident your younger learner will benefit from a 1:1 collaborative discussion. This session is 1:1. If you have 2 learners that would like to join the class (e.g. siblings or friends working on the same business), reach out for a private session listing! The 2nd learner is 50% off. Important notes about my classes: - Learners are welcome to banter with, challenge and question the teacher, but respectfulness and taking turns while speaking is required. (Sometimes Zoom makes this hard! But we try.) Disrespectful language, chats, posts, etc, are grounds for removal When disagreements arise, we will practice being respectful. Any hateful, racist, homophobic, or any other view inconsistent with human dignity will be grounds for immediate removal from class and/or the section. - Please arrive 3 minutes early so that we can start class on time. - Learners are encouraged to advocate for how they can best participate. If your learner needs adult assistance in the classroom (e.g. adult on screen, adult answering for child or facilitating answers, adult taking notes), please let me know in advance, as recommended in the Outschool parent guidance.
Learning Goals
Goals are set by the learner and/or their adults - this can be as conversational or information as you would like. Unless I receive a message at least 24 hours before the session, the session will be learner led and we'll tackle any questions they have. If you'd like a more content-heavy 1:1 session, consider an ongoing 1:1 session where we can plan ahead, follow up on topics, etc.

Some sessions may discuss social media as a marketing tool. If this comes up, we will also talk about online safety and the importance of adults being aware of what we're posting online, and having access to accounts for safety reasons. No social media apps will be linked from the classroom.
Learners should not share their social media handles (names) or websites with other students or the teacher, per Outschool policy. If your learner would like me to review their website or social media feed, they can screenshot and black out any identifying information, then share these images in class.
