* Yes this class IS available, as a one-time or ongoing 1:1 class! Click "check availability" to auto-schedule based on my standard availability, or reach out with your desired timeframe, day of the week, and time zone. Last minute sessions may be available - message me! * Do you have questions about running a business, or how to decide what you want to do? Join a seasoned business consultant for this an interactive, learner-led 1:1 support session for learners who are interested in: - Making money - How to start a business - Turning their hobby into a business - Publicizing their hobby through (age appropriate) social media tools - Learning about business management - Starting a Youtube channel (find your niche and where to market your channel) - Learning about careers or businesses for different personalities and passions This class is learner-led, which means we'll discuss whatever questions your learner brings to class! We'll have discussions based on their questions, my experience, and snippets from my other classes. (This is not a curriculum-based class, instead, it relies on learners guiding the topics.) Session topics can be arranged in advance via Outschool message (at least 24 hours in advance), or your learner can show up with questions day-of. This session can cover one or more of the following topics: - Pricing for your product or service - Marketing (traditional marketing vs social media) - Value proposition / elevator pitch (gaining confidence in talking about your business) - Set up costs (realistic costs and how to earn money to pay for them) - Types of businesses that might work for kids - Developing soft skills (public speaking, confidence, self awareness, boundary setting) - Creating a healthy work balance and verbalizing boundaries at work or in your business If you are looking for a curriculum-based, 1:1 class, this class can be used as a private, 1:1 Semester long business class (typically 10 weeks.) The Semester class curriculum is highly interactive, so it works best as a 1:1 class if your learner is ready to talk - a lot! - about their business, pricing, marketing, public speaking, etc. See my Semester Business Exploration class for that that curriculum would look like, and reach out with any questions! Please let me know at least 24 hours before your first session if you're looking for a private, Semester-long curriculum. Older and younger students are welcome - I have experience teaching and working with young entrepreneurs ages 5-18, although I generally recommend ages 8+ for this session, unless you're confident your younger learner will benefit from a 1:1 collaborative discussion. This session is 1:1. If you have 2 learners that would like to join the class (e.g. siblings or friends working on the same business), reach out for a private session listing! The 2nd learner is 50% off. 1:1 session classroom rules: 1) Be respectful! Take turns talking, be respectful during any disagreements, and use the chat only for on-topic discussions. 2) Minimize distractions. No video filters, no backgrounds (except blur). Don't put items close to the camera, unless asked to. 3) If student is disrespectful or distracting, teacher will give them 1-2 verbal notices and then remove them to the waiting room for a break. If the student is still in the waiting room after a few minutes, they will be let back in. If the behavior continues, student will be given another verbal warning. After that they will be removed to the waiting room for the duration of class. In the unlikely even that this happens, please contact support@outschool.com. Racist, sexist, homophobic comments in a 1:1 class will result in the session ending, and safety being notified. 4) Outschool requires all learners to be enrolled; any other kids/teens present need to be off-screen, and not engage with the student or teacher. A few notes: - Please arrive 3 minutes early so that we can start class on time, and you can troubleshoot any tech issues before class. - Per Outschool policy, if the student is not in the classroom at the 10 minute mark, I have to log off and end class. (If you're having tech issues trying to enter the classroom, just send a message or post in the classroom, so I know you are there!) - If you cannot attend, please let me know ASAP. If you would d like a refund for an upcoming class you'll miss, please notify me at least 72 hours before class. If you'd like to schedule a make-up session (within the same week), please notify me at least 24 hours in advance. I cannot offer refunds or make-up classes for missed sessions outside of the situations noted above. If you experience an emergency and cannot provide adequate notice, please reach out as soon as you are able. - Unless there is a safety issue, a 1:1 class video can be shared (upon request). If your student missed a 1:1, there is no recording. - Per Outschool policy, social media apps will be referenced but not linked to. Learners are encouraged to use social media only with adult permission and supervision. - Learners are encouraged to advocate for how they can best participate. If your learner needs adult assistance in the classroom (e.g. adult on screen, adult answering for child or facilitating answers, adult taking notes), please let me know in advance, as recommended in the Outschool parent guidance.
Learning Goals
Learning goals can be set in advance of the session. Knowing what your learner would like to talk about is helpful for me to prepare for the session. If I don't hear from you in advance of the section, I'll arrive ready to brainstorm about anything!

Parental Guidance
In many sessions, we will discuss social media as a marketing tool. When this comes up, I encourage learners to have a parent or adult involved with any social media activities. Social media is a remarkable marketing tool, but it is designed for adults, so it's helpful for an adult to have access to accounts to make sure kids stay safe. If there are any parameters around social media that you'd like to discuss, please reach out well in advance of class.
Learners should not share their social media handles or their website, even with the teacher, per Outschool policy. If your learner would like to discuss or get feedback on these tools, please screenshot the parts they'd like to discuss and black out any identifying details. Then they can screenshare these images during class.
