Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
Saying "YET", practicing, believing in yourself and never giving up... keys to being able to do something or not. Ms. Leslie, Artist, Kindness and Confidence Mentor will introduce your student to the power of the Growth Mindset word YET. If possible, this class is best in two sessions. Using the word YET inspires us to keep trying, to use different strategies, to ask for help, and to continue to practice. Most of all, saying "YET" gives us hope, to believe in ourselves. When we are trying to accomplish new things or when we run into roadblocks, we say YET to allow more time to practice. YOU can do it. YOU just can't do it YET. Students will: - Practice adding YET to the end of, "I can't.. I don't know.. I don't understand.. It doesn't make sense" statements - Learn a YET cheer - Set goals using the power of YET - Learn to sign the word YET - Create a YET sign If your student struggles with perfection, or becomes easily frustrated, practicing and learning to use the word YET can be magical. Less pressure, more hope. If your student doesn't necessarily struggle, but wants to be more effective, using the word YET can heighten performance in a healthy manner. I am skilled at inclusion and encouragement and have managed and motivated adults and students for over 30 years. I will give your student a kind and accepting place to express themselves. I have taught this YET concept for 14 years and know your student will come away feeling like they CAN DO IT! Ms. Leslie will ask students to FEEL the difference in their bodies between saying "I can't do it." and "I can't do it YET.". Students will also learn an "I CAN DO IT.. I CAN DO IT" cheer to use when they encounter a “USE THE WORD YET NOW!” situation. Students will proudly read what they can’t do YET. Saying what we can’t do out loud, to supportive listeners, empowers us to keep trying! After this class, parents will hear the word YET more. Parents will be encouraged to reward their students with praise when they hear them use YET! All classes: ESL and ELL student friendly! Practice Speaking/Writing English Confidently. CEFR: A2, B1,B2,C1,C2
Learning Goals
Students will learn to use the mighty little word YET to give themselves hope that they can accomplish things over time.
