Assessment
I will informally assess student understanding periodically during the lesson through questioning and quick checks on the topic. Parent's can request written feedback on student performance/understanding at the end of sessions if desired.Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 9
In this one-time class I will meet with a learner One-on-One for 30 minutes to tutor or teach any Algebra 1 skill. This class can be taken as a tutoring session on any desired topic. Learners or parents may also request a lesson to be taught on a specific desired topic. Lastly, students can request reviews over specific topics to study for upcoming assessments. I teach by asking guiding questions that will lead students through problems and concepts. I also use these questions to constantly assess my students' understanding! Through this questioning method, I am better able to meet all of my students' needs and adjust my lessons to clear up any misconceptions they might be having. It is important for students to understand the "why" in mathematics. If students understand why we are doing a particular step, they can better remember and apply the skill in the future. If you don't see a time available that works with your schedule, feel free to send me a message and we can work together to schedule something that might work for you. After enrolling, please send me a message with the topic your learner would like to learn about. This will ensure that time is maximized and material is tailored to requests. Topics that may be tutored/taught include: Integer Operations Number Properties (associative, commutative, distributive) Real Number System Operations on Rational and Irrational Numbers Expressions (Simplifying and Verbal Translating) Solving Equations (Solving Normal and Literal Equations, Applications) Solving Inequalities Linear Functions (writing equations and graphing lines) Graphing Linear Inequalities Solving Linear Systems (substitution, elimination, graphing) Exponential Functions (growth and decay-Writing Equations from Applications) Sequences (Arithmetic and Geometric) Graphing Quadratics and Writing Equations from Graphs Transforming Quadratic Graphs Multiplying Polynomials Factoring Quadratics Solving Quadratic Equations (graphing, factoring, Square Roots, Quadratic Equation) Comparing Linear, Exponential, and Quadratic Functions
