Class Experience
TOPICS: Cubing, Speed Cubing, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Rubik's Cube, CFOP, F2L, OLL, PLL, 2-Look, Algorithms WELCOME TO ADVANCED CUBING!! In this one-time, 55 minute class, students will receive instruction on how to solve the 3x3 Rubik's cube using the Beginner's CFOP method. They will get full color solution handouts that will help them during independent practice after class. Instruction will be modeled using an over head camera so that students can see the teacher's hands and cube. Students will receive direct and private instruction as I help them understand each step. It may take more than one class to learn CFOP, depending on student's prior knowledge with cubing, practice time, and personal aptitude. Before taking this class, students are required to know how to solve the 3x3 cube using basic or beginner methods. Students who are not yet solving the 3x3 by memory, may need more time to master the cube before attempting CFOP. Cubing is a great brain exercise, easy to take with you anywhere, and an awesome focus tool!
Learning Goals

Students will apply prior cube solving knowledge to learn advanced cubing algorithms.

Supply List
Students must have access to the CFOP handouts during class, either digitally or in print. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Students should have a speed cube (any brand) rather than a traditional Rubik's brand cube as this cube does not turn easily and makes finger moves too difficult.
1 file available upon enrollment
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hawaii Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Hawaii West Oahu
I have been a licensed elementary school teacher since 2012. I taught grades K, 1, 4, 5, and 6 in the public education system in Hawaii. During 2020, when schools moved to distance learning as a safety precaution, I learned that I enjoyed teaching online and that it was well suited to some of my students too! In 2021, my family moved to Idaho and I began teaching on Outschool. One of my favorite things about teaching online is meeting students from all around the world!
I was born to 2nd generation immigrant families. My father's side is Japanese-American, and my mother's side is Filipino-American. Hawaii is very multi-cultural place so being born and raised there makes me truly appreciate different cultures, food, and places.
My teaching style is engaging, interactive, and very relational. I feel that positive human connection cultivates an environment for optimum learning.
My favorite subjects to learn, and to teach, are Science, Math, Art, Engineering, and Philosophy. I love learning new methods, exploring new ideas, and tackling new challenges.
