Mastery Evaluation
1 hour per week. In this class, I don’t assign traditional homework, but I’ll provide practice ideas or one or two problems to work on if your child wants extra practice outside of class. The focus is on building skills in class with plenty of hands-on support and fun activities!

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This ongoing class supports early learners in mastering addition and subtraction through clear steps and lots of encouragement. We begin with organizing and building equations, then progress from simple problems to more complex ones using a Most-to-Least prompting strategy. I provide individualized support and adjust each lesson to meet your child’s unique learning pace and needs.

We cover the following topics in order, based on student readiness:

Organizing and identifying parts of an equation

Writing number sentences (equations)

Building equations using visual tools

Adding two single-digit numbers

Adding two-digit numbers to one-digit numbers

Adding two-digit numbers to two-digit numbers

Adding three-digit numbers to one-digit numbers

Carrying over (regrouping)

Subtraction following the same steps

Combining both operations in mixed practice

Some students may work on addition and subtraction at the same time, while others may focus on one until they’re ready to combine both. Each class includes engaging slides, games, and hands-on math visuals to help students make sense of the concepts in fun ways.

Teaching Style:
I use Most-to-Least prompting to build independence while supporting confidence and success. My teaching is playful and positive, with lots of praise, visual support, and real-time progress monitoring.

Learning Goals

Organize and understand math equations
Understand and practice regrouping (carrying and borrowing) in addition and subtraction.

Other Details

Learning Needs
This class supports all learners, including those with ADHD, Dyslexia, or ASD. It uses visual strategies, movement breaks, positive reinforcement, and student strengths to keep learning clear, fun, and engaging for every child.
Parental Guidance
In this class, I prioritize the privacy and confidentiality of all students. I do not use any student names on documents; instead, I use initials to ensure confidentiality. I also maintain a secure and private online environment by ensuring that the room is clear of distractions and other people when I’m working. To further protect privacy, I do not use virtual backgrounds during our sessions, allowing parents to see that there are no other distractions or individuals in the background. These precautions help maintain a focused and safe learning environment for everyone involved. There are no content or safety concerns in this class. All materials used are appropriate for early learners.
Pre-Requisites
There are no required previous classes. In the first lesson, we’ll identify each student’s current skill level in adding and subtracting, so we can build from their strengths and support their learning at the right pace.

I have been teaching online for 5 years, working with students in various settings to build foundational math skills. Over the years, I have developed and used strategies that focus on gradually fading prompts to help students become more independent learners. Specifically, I’ve seen great success using this approach to improve fluency in addition and subtraction, while also helping students feel confident in tackling math problems on their own.

Through my experience, I’ve worked with many students, providing personalized support to meet their individual needs. By focusing on strengths and using a progression model, I’ve helped students succeed in mastering skills while reducing the need for constant prompting. This approach has proven effective in building lasting math skills and boosting student confidence.
