Class Experience

This course is highly adaptable to work with your learner's specific music making or personalized non-musical goals.

I have 5+ years of experience adapting musical instruments and music curriculum for student with a variety of disabilities and learning needs. Music is for everyone and I believe all students have a song inside of them waiting to be heard! Whether your student has Autism, ID, visual impairment, D H/H, physical disability, or is non-verbal, we will cater each lesson to their unique needs and ways of expressing.

I welcome learners of all communication styles. We can simply learn through collaborative music making in a naturalistic way, or have more structured lessons focused on music theory and technique. I am a very approachable teacher, always open for questions and discussion. I have a degree from Berklee College of Music and am proficient on guitar, ukulele, drums, voice, piano, and saxophone. I am also open to teaching basics of looping in garage band and songwriting skills.

Learners can come as they are and trust they will be respected, valued, and celebrated for exactly who they are!
Learning Goals
Goals are developed together and can include, but are not limited to the following:
- increase proficiency on an instrument (scales, intervals, technique, practice schedule support)
- develop social, communication, and academic skills (IEP goals or general goals developed together such as increasing phrase length, increasing attention/focus, community safety, sight words, AAC device use)
- understand music theory (reading music, ear training, listening skills, and music history)
- trial a variety of instruments (guitar, variety of percussion instruments, saxophone, MIDI recording/garageband, online apps, piano, keyboard, ukulele, etc.)
- write your own song (lyrics, accompaniment, song form)
