Class Experience

US Grade 6
In this personalized 1:1 math tutoring session, each lesson is customized to your child's unique needs, skills, and learning style. Before our first session, I’ll gather information from you about your child’s goals, current challenges, and any specific areas of focus (like fractions, decimals, equations, or test prep).

What will be taught?
We’ll cover essential 6th-grade math concepts, which may include:

Fractions, decimals, and percentages
Ratios and proportions
Expressions, equations, and inequalities
Multi-step word problems and problem-solving strategies

How is the class structured?
Each session is student-centered, with a flexible structure that adapts to your child's needs. We start with a check-in to see how they’re feeling and what specific challenges they’d like to work on. We’ll then dive into focused instruction, guided practice, and step-by-step problem-solving. If needed, we’ll review homework, prepare for upcoming tests, or revisit concepts that require extra attention. Each session ends with a review of key takeaways and a plan for the next session.

How will I teach?
I use a mix of interactive teaching strategies, including visual aids, hands-on problem-solving, real-world examples, and step-by-step explanations. I prioritize a calm, supportive, and encouraging approach to ensure every student feels safe to ask questions and make mistakes. I adjust my teaching to fit the student’s learning style, whether they need visual models, verbal explanations, or repeated practice.

What’s my teaching style?
I believe in patience, encouragement, and positive reinforcement. I create a safe space where mistakes are seen as part of learning. I offer clear, step-by-step guidance and celebrate progress to build your child’s confidence in math. My goal is to make math feel approachable and achievable.

How much will learners get to interact with me?
This 1:1 session is fully interactive. Your child will have my full attention throughout the session. They’ll be able to ask questions, explain their thinking, and engage in problem-solving in real time. Lessons are conversational, student-led, and responsive to your child's needs.

Additional Support for Unique Learner Needs
I have experience working with students with ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and ASD. Lessons are flexible, and I incorporate visual supports, step-by-step guidance, and breaks as needed. I’m happy to discuss any specific accommodations in advance.

I’m a certified teacher with 4 years of experience teaching 6th-grade math. Over the years, I’ve supported students with a wide range of math skills, from mastering the basics of fractions to tackling multi-step algebraic equations. I know that math can sometimes feel overwhelming, but I believe every student can succeed with patience, practice, and clear explanations. My approach is student-centered, meaning I adapt my teaching to meet each student’s learning style, and I make sure that every student feels seen, heard, and supported.

I love seeing the moment when something "clicks" for students, and I’m committed to helping them feel more confident in their math abilities. If your child could use personalized support with 6th-grade math, I’d love to be their guide!"
