Meet Your Class Instructors:
Eddy Liu:
Eddy first started music lessons when he was three. He gained the Associateship of the Trinity College London (ATCL) in Piano Performance, which is equivalent to the Associateship of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto (ARCT). During his time in high school, Eddy was the head pianist of the high school orchestra, performing the Grieg concerto and Rachmaninov Piano Concerto. Eddy is young, energetic and experienced working with children. He hopes to inspire the younger generation through music lessons that are both educational and fun.
Nikole Puchkov:
I have a degree in music education from the University of Toronto, as well as a minor in history. I taught students of a variety of ages, the youngest being only 4 years old! I have training and experience in teaching students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, ADD, and ADHD. Together we work out strategies and alternative ways of learning to help them reach their desired goals!
My teaching methods will vary based on each students’ goals and needs. In addition to teaching recreational piano playing, I also prepare students for practical, theory, harmony, and history exams at the Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as university undergrads taking music theory and history classes. Additionally, I prepare students for university entrance exams and AP tests. For those looking to learn popular music, I highly recommend starting out in the Faber Piano Adventures Series. For those that are more independent learners, I recommend trying the Suzuki Piano methods. Lastly, for those that may be interested in taking exams at the Royal Conservatory of Music, I recommend using the Celebration Series.
Ara Arakelyan:
For Ara music has always been a way of life. He started taking music classes at the age of five and his first instrument was the piano.
At age thirteen, he started learning saxophone and eventually graduated with Honours from the special Music School Sayat-Nova for Gifted Children. From there, he entered the Komitas State Conservatory, where he received his B. A. and M.A. in Wind Instruments with specialization in Classical Saxophone.
