In this Winter Camp, students will build mastery in sentence structure, punctuation & editing, sentence combining, & writing with variety in an essay using 4 different types of sentences: simple, compound, complex, & compound-complex.

Class experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Students will...
1. Improve their understanding of simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences.
2. Identify the differences between dependent vs. independent clauses.
3. Identify the difference between clauses and phrases.
4. Write simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences with correct punctuation.
5. Use different sentence structures to incorporate variety into their writing.
I have a B.S. in English Education and English Literature with over ten years of classroom teaching experience.
Homework Offered
Optional practice/homework items will be posted to the Outschool classroom for this class. Students are encouraged to practice the writing skills they learned between class meetings and after the course has ended.
Assessments Offered
Students will be informally assessed during each class meeting. Teacher will provide immediate feedback throughout.
Grades Offered
Students will need paper and a pencil OR a word processor.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Google Slides will only be used for screen-sharing purposes as part of the teacher lecture/instruction. Students do not need a Google account and are not expected to access Google Slides.
