Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
If you are searching for a dedicated and experienced reading tutor who uses a personalized, multisensory approach to address diverse learning needs, look no further! I provide specialized reading tutoring, focusing on students with varying needs, including dyslexia and those who are reading below their grade level. My approach is rooted in the principles of the Orton-Gillingham method, which emphasizes a multi-sensory approach to reading instruction.

"Explicit teaching of alphabetic decoding skills is helpful to many children, harmful for none, crucial for some." - Snow and Juel 2005

👩‍🏫 GENERAL LESSON COMPONENTS

Depending on your learner's needs, their reading lessons will include some combination of the following:

• Phonics and Phonemic Awareness
• Reading Comprehension
• Fluency Practice
• Vocabulary
• Spelling
• Encouragement
• Games
• Curated links to practice materials for the week

📖 PERSONALIZED INSTRUCTION AND ASSESSMENT
My approach begins with a thorough assessment of your learner's reading abilities, identifying their unique strengths and challenges. Based on this assessment, I will develop a customized reading plan tailored to your learner's specific needs.

📖 INTENSIVE READING INSTRUCTION
Learners who are reading below grade level often require intensive reading support. Recent studies from the National Bureau of Economic Research show that high-dosage tutoring, with at least three weekly sessions lasting 30 minutes each, is key for academic success.

📖 PROGRESS MONITORING
Ongoing assessment and progress monitoring are fundamental aspects of my approach to ensure each student's steady progress. I continuously evaluate the effectiveness of my lessons, make necessary adjustments, and provide detailed reports to parents and guardians.

As a special education teacher, my commitment is to help students with diverse learning needs overcome reading challenges and build the confidence they need to excel in reading and beyond. If you're interested in enrolling your child in reading tutoring with me, schedule a session with me for an initial assessment.
