I have been teaching reading and writing for over 9 years, (remotely, private sessions, in-person, and in the classroom!), helping students enhance their comprehension and analytical skills. I am also an accomplished writer, specializing in middle grade and young adult fiction. I hold a master's degree in Writing Fiction from the University of Denver and a bachelor's degree in English from Furman University. My passion for reading and literature drives my engaging and supportive teaching approach, ensuring each student finds joy and growth in their literary journey.

Assignments
Frequency: 1-2 per weekFeedback: includedDetails: Students will spend time reading outside of class. I encourage them to keep a journal of their thoughts while they read or simply a place to reflect on their feelings about the book. These regular assignments will help students remember what they read when they come to sessions and begin engaging more deeply with literature.Progress Report
Frequency: includedDetails: This progress report aims to provide a comprehensive view of a student's achievements and areas for growth, ensuring parents are well-informed and can support their child's learning journey.
This class is designed to support unique learning needs. I use a flexible, student-centered approach to tailor our sessions to each child's pace and interests. My goal is to make reading enjoyable and accessible for every student.
Students will need a copy of the book that they have chosen. They will also need a notebook to keep notes and a casual journal of their thoughts while they read.
Students will choose the title they wish to read in our sessions. Parents should review their child's choice to ensure that the book is appropriate in content and difficulty. If parents request that I select a title, I will provide necessary information to families about sensitive topics they may want to avoid.
