Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
**Thank you for visiting my class page. Unfortunately, I am at capacity for this application cycle and am unable to work with new learners at this time. Thank you for your interest, and best of luck with your applications!

Do you need assistance with your college essay? I can help!

In this one-session workshop, you will receive detailed feedback on your Common App personal statement or supplement. You are encouraged, but not required, to submit an essay draft in advance of the workshop so I can provide comments and suggestions before we start our work together live. In the alternative, you can feel free to share your essay draft at our meeting.

During our time together, I will provide feedback on topic choice, content, structure, insight, use of detail, expression of vulnerability, storytelling, and grammar/conventions/punctuation. I will also make sure your essay reflects your core values. Grammar and conventions review will include mini-lessons where applicable, so you'll learn the rules as we go along.

This workshop builds upon my college essay group workshop, which is also offered on Outschool. There is no requirement to join my group workshop in advance of this individualized session, but it is recommended. I offer various brainstorming and outlining exercises that will help you generate content for a unique and memorable essay.

Please contact me for an appointment.

I very much look forward to helping you make your essay dazzle!

Since 2018, I have offered college counseling to juniors and seniors both in a school and as an independent college consultant. Each year, I provide feedback on nearly 80 seniors' Common App personal statements (college essays) in a school. To do so, I teach a two-hour introductory group workshop, and I continue to work with each senior individually -- sometimes through as many as nine and ten drafts! -- until they are fully satisfied with their essays. I also advise students on the national QuestBridge scholarship application.

I am a NYS certified English teacher, college counselor (UCLA Extension, 2018; member, HECA & IECA), higher education administrator, and former attorney.
