Class Experience
In this one time poetry class, students will write a poem with a published poet (Ms. Kathie) and have fun with words. We will cover how poetry can rhyme, but doesn't have to and how repeated lines give a poem power in meaning and emotion. We will also discuss how some poetry is written into shapes. My class is structured: 1) Greeting/expectations/agenda 2 minutes 2) Writing prompt to get thoughts flowing 2 minutes 3) Mini-lesson for writing a poem 5-6 minutes 4) Write a short poem together...
How poetry can be impactful and fun and a means of self-expression
Hey there, I'm Ms. Kathie Harsch. I'm a certified middle school English Language Arts and Business teacher who has worked with children for the last 27 years. On Outschool I teach ELA Middle School and 9th grade, Creative writing courses, and Graphic Design courses in the Canva graphic design program.
