1 on 1 Tutoring: Reading Comprehension (ESOL Students Welcome!) 30 Minutes

Students will practice and learn skills that all proficient readers need to be successful.  Students will learn to re-read a text for meaning, find key words and details to answer questions concisely, and formulate ideas to answer and respond to prompts.

I have a  Bachelor's Degree in English and Specialist Degree in Education.  I taught english and reading for ten years and was a literacy coach for five years; in this position I coached and taught teachers how to be most effective in instructional practices in in the teaching or reading and writing.  Also, I have successfully taught english to Chinese students for the past four years via an online platform.  Lastly, I have been an Assistant Principal of a middle school for the last six years where my focus of teacher development and evaluation is in the subjects of reading and english.

At a parent's request I will assign homework for your child to work on independently to put what they learned into practice. This homework will not be collected or graded unless the student is signed up for another class.

30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

I will provide the materials for the student.  All materials used will be public domain materials.  No copyrighted material will be used in class.
