Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 7
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This one-on-one social studies course is tailored to meet the unique learning needs and interests of your learner. It is designed for students seeking a personalized approach to exploring different aspects of social studies (history, geography, economics).

Weekly lessons will involve an interactive slideshow presentation (incorporated with a variety of multi-media content. My teaching style is engaging and highly interactive. I like to connect with students before formal lessons and strongly encourage them to ask questions and actively participate in their learning. Whether your child needs extra support in mastering specific topics, or is eager to dive deeper into areas of personal interest, this course adapts to their pace and learning style. Examples of specific topics that may be covered under this subject area include ancient civilizations, map reading skills, basics of economics, and types of government.

NOTE: Once enrolled, please reach out at least a week before the scheduled class to discuss specific areas of interest and what your goals are.

I look forward to having your learner in class. See you soon!

Learning Goals

Students will develop a deeper comprehension of key historical events, figures, and their impacts and relevance to the world today.
Students will learn to interpret maps, identify geographic features, and understand the relationships between physical geography and human activities.

Parental Guidance
This class may use blooket or gimkit for reviewing the lesson. These are fun, gamified learning platforms that enables students to review class material by answering questions in a quiz-style format. Students do not need an account or additional device to play the game. I will send a direct link to the game where the student clicks and joins the game directly. I may share external web links from reputable organizations such as (but not limited to) the US Census bureau with students during class time either for use in class or as a resource they may use later on. Content shared has been verified by me and found to be age-appropriate. The class also utilizes google earth (via screen share). Please note that some video content is from Youtube (learners will watch no more than 3 minutes)

Master's Degree in Sociology from University of Ghana
Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
My academic background and ongoing education uniquely position me to develop and teach a comprehensive and well-rounded social studies curriculum that fosters curiosity.

- My Bachelors degree in Sociology & Social Work as well as an MPhil degree in Sociology, provides me with a deep understanding of societal structures, cultural dynamics, and human behavior, which are all essential elements that form the foundation of history, geography, and civics.
- In addition, my minor in Economics at the bachelor's level enhances my ability to teach students about economic systems, trade, and resource management, while my studies in Government provide a strong basis for explaining governance structures, civic responsibilities, and citizenship.
- I am currently pursuing an MA in Education. Through this, I am gaining the skills and the pedagogical tools necessary to design engaging, age-appropriate lessons that resonate with middle school learners.

For me, teaching about the world is not just about providing information; it's about inspiring a lifelong love for learning and a deeper appreciation for the world we live in. I am excited to share my passion for the social sciences and guide your learner on their journey to becoming informed, thoughtful, and engaged global citizens.
