Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Welcome to my tutoring class! In this class, I will be readily available to assist with any areas of struggle and/or need in reading, language arts, and/or writing. This can include things such as reading comprehension topics (such as compare/contrast, inferences, theme), language arts or grammar topics (such as synonyms/antonyms, figurative language, fragments/run-ons), building and improving vocabulary, and writing topics (complete sentences, analyzing text, responding to open-ended questions or essay questions, revising/editing).

This class is structured as a personalized private tutoring session. I am available to support learners in any area of need in reading/language arts or writing. Please feel free to send a message at the time of enrollment in my class, or prior to our tutoring session, with specific topics to cover and I am happy to do so!

I truly believe that every student can learn. In my years as a special education teacher, I have assisted many struggling readers. My style is enthusiastic and uplifting. I feel strongly about the importance of positive reinforcement and verbal praise in sessions. I will keep your learner engaged with fun ways to grasp concepts and interact with material. I teach using both verbal and visual models and aids.

This personalized session will have constant interaction and attention from myself to your learner. We will discuss questions and areas of need/struggle, review assignments and complete activities together (depending on need- i.e. homework help or a mini lesson), and I will frequently check-in with your learner throughout the lesson to assess understanding and confidence levels.

There is no required experience or knowledge needed for this course due to the nature of the tutoring experience. Bring any questions you have and I am happy and excited to assist!

I am a certified elementary K-6 and special education Pre-K-8 teacher. I have been teaching reading, math, science, and history for 13 years. Over the past 6 years, I have taught reading/language arts (4 years) and history to 5th and 6th grade students, while also providing 1-on-1 tutoring support in all core subjects (reading, math, science, history). Prior to that, I substitute taught and tutored in grades K-12.
