Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 4
In this ongoing private class, students will focus on any ELA skills needed to help them grow! These can be related to reading fluency, decoding, phonics, comprehension, grammar, spelling, and/or writing.
During the first session, I will assess your student’s current reading, spelling, and phonological skills in order to develop a curriculum plan tailored to their current level and needs. Students may start at any level.

Each ongoing lesson will include multi-sensory activities, games, and other techniques supported by the Science of Reading and will be tailored to fit the unique needs of the learner. Students may also bring school assignments to sessions to receive support.

Learning Goals

Student will grow as a reader, writer, and speller to meet individualized goals.

My name is Lisa MacKay. I am a certified teacher with over 10 years of experience and I'm excited to help your child grow! I have permanent certifications in early childhood, elementary and special education, along with an extension for gifted and talent in New York State.
I specialize in learning to read using techniques based on the science of reading. I also love to support students in math by finding the techniques that work best for them.
I have taught everything from PreK to 9th with a focus on inclusive classrooms. I love working with students with disabilities and tailor sessions to helping them reach their goals.
I believe in an approach based in growth mindset and work to build students' confidence while we work through challenging things.
