The idea behind this class is that the student has their own private tutor that will take them step by step through learning how to sew and create projects - When you sign up for this class I will contact you and ask you what level of sewing skills you have and what project you would like to start with - So that I can plan your lessons. Examples: Beginner in sewing: >Learn to use your sewing machine -thread it, wind bobbin and troubleshoot issues. >Learn to sew using a sewing maze to build confidence in sewing. >Learn to create seams and hems >Learn to sew simple things like Pencil cases, bags, cushions etc. Intermediate/Advanced in sewing: >Learn creative sewing decorative techniques: Applique, Free Machine Embroidery, Quilting, Couching, Smocking, Crashing, slashing, Patchwork etc. >Learn to make more advanced things: Skirt, shorts, Dress, tops etc. >Learn to upcycle clothing - take clothes apart and resew them into other clothing or add embellishments to renew the look of clothing.

Parental Guidance
We will be using a sewing machine so please have supervision nearby.
Safety advice will vary dependent on chosen projects but will update parents on this when projects are decided.
Supply List
This will depend on the project that the student wants to complete, so will be updated in the classroom every lesson.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello, my name is Hetty and I am a teacher living in the Cotswolds, picturesque countryside in the United Kingdom.
I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher of sewing, art and photography, I have been teaching 11 to 18 year olds in person since 2009 and I have recently decided to teach online and make educational resources full time.
I am looking forward to teaching creative skills and passing on knowledge to students from all over the world.
I will be teaching various lessons to a range of abilities – Sewing, Textiles, Photography, Art, Crafting and Fashion Illustration.
In my classes, I will aim to safely teach students creative techniques so that they can use these skills to be experimental and independent in their own creations. I believe that as a teacher I am here to show you the starting point so that you can use these skills to create from your own imagination.
I love learning new skills and teaching them to others and I look forward to welcoming you to my classes.
