1-on-1 Piano Lessons

In private lessons, students will develop key skills, such as tone, rhythm, musicality, and performance techniques. Using a variety of method books and songs, we'll refine these abilities and deepen their musical understanding.

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 8
Beginner - Intermediate Level
What will be taught?
- How to read music effectively and translate it to the piano.

What topics will be covered? - The specific topics depend on the student's level. For beginners, we will focus on:
- Note reading
- Rhythm
- Developing a steady beat

How will the class be structured?
- Warm-up exercises
- Review of homework from the previous lesson
- Focused work on a song

Students are expected to practice between lessons. At the start of each session, I’ll listen to what the student has practiced before diving into new material. I often demonstrate concepts by playing examples myself.
What’s my teaching style?

I use a mix of methods for teaching beginner and intermediate students. I primarily work with Piano Adventures and Music Moves for Piano, but I’m open to exploring other pieces outside of these series.

Lessons are one-on-one, with plenty of back-and-forth playing. Students will have the chance to demonstrate what they’ve learned each week.

Learning Goals

I hold an Honors Bachelor's in Music Education with a focus on violin. I began piano at age five and started learning violin in sixth grade. Throughout my degree, I took private lessons in viola, cello, double bass, and piano. At The University of Texas at Arlington, I performed with the university's full orchestra, playing a wide range of classical music. I've been teaching violin since the start of my college years and have three years of experience teaching general music at the elementary level in public schools.
