US Grade 4 - 7
First things first, I will get to know your student and determine gaps in his/ her understanding of multiplication and division. I will go at the student’s pace. Each session, we will focus on an agreed related topic from school or the following topics depending on your child’s needs, age, and grade which include: • Multiplication concepts • multiplication fact strategies • fact families (includes division facts) (It’s important to understand the relationship.) • multi-digit multiplication strategies (area-model / box, partial product, traditional, lattice) • math crafts • Division concepts • Division strategies (area model, partial products, traditional long division) • Should I multiply or divide (word problems) • Word Problems In addition, word problems and engaging activities are included each session. When doing word problems students learn how to determine whether to multiply or divide. I believe learning should be enjoyable yet challenging. So, I incorporate activities and websites that require student engagement and critical thinking. Your child will enjoy learning and feel so successful that he or she will want to do even more math. I try to end positively with an enjoyable math game, either electronic or with dice or with playing cards. Come as often as you like until the material is mastered. Learning comes from repetition. Let the learning begin! **Financial assistance application for families needing assistance: https://outschool.com/family-assistance-program#usgToOLmM9
