1-on-1 Meet the Teacher, Plan and Discuss Your Learning
Class experience
After a fun voice warm-up and tongue twister learners can meet me, Mrs. T with some icebreaker questions and short activities. Learners have a chance to see who I am and how I teach. They also have the opportunity to ask any questions and discuss their future learning. As all my 1:1 classes can be personalised this gives learners a chance to make sure they are getting the best out of their classes and they can ask for support and advice where they feel they need it. Learners get to plan their future learning by discussing it before classes start. Making sure they choose the best class type and we plan the best personlised curriculum for them.
I am a fully qualified teacher (BAPA, PGCE) with 18 years of experience teaching Drama (and Performing Arts, English, Music, and PSHCE (Personal Social Health Education) in bricks and mortar schools, where I currently still teach part-time, including running small group and 1:1 confidence-building workshops. I also have many years of experience leading community workshop schemes (like create a play in a week) and local drama groups for ages 4 to 16. As a professional actress, I've performed to children from ages 2-14 in theatres, arts centres, social clubs, historical properties, nurseries, and schools. Playing roles such as the Gingerbread man and a tortoise, to a wartime headmistress and Queen Elizabeth the first! With lots of Q & A and interactive workshops along the way. I then branched into presenting (live, events, radio, some TV, and for holiday companies across Europe) including some Voiceover work. I currently create and present drama and presenter tuition videos. I have produced and directed many productions (musicals and plays) as well, including some I have written myself. I am very experienced in coaching learners to produce their best performance, and I love seeing them develop in front of my eyes. Many of my ex-students have gone on to study at prestigious London stage schools in acting and directing, even though we are over 200 miles away, and they only take a small number from out of the catchment area each year. Previous learners have achieved several A+ grades in a speech and drama festival, top grades in a session of 20, and a Bronze overall against native speakers, second round of a national competition. I have also coached learners on all different levels, like one who didn't wish to speak when I started working with him (aged 10) but he ended up playing the lead role in his final year production (aged 15).
