Homework
1 hour per week. Students are encouraged to complete work started in class at home and post to the classroom for feedback each week to reinforce new concepts and practise independently.
Assessment
I will address any misconceptions as they arise and assess a student's comprehension and understanding of a skill or knowledge during the learning and teaching process (Assessment for Learning). If completed work is submitted to the classroom I will mark it and provide feedback.

Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this private one-on-one math class, young learners will learn about a new math concept or topic each lesson based on the United Kingdom's National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7); Lower Key Stage 2 (ages 7-9); or Upper Key Stage 2 (ages 9-11).

Each student will learn new skills and various methods for solving the math problems presented in the six areas of mathematics: Number & Place Value, Calculations, Fractions, Geometry, Measurement, and Statistics.

I can guide your learner through the full curriculum or we can concentrate on specific areas of learning, for example a block of lessons on multiplication or fractions.
40 individual lessons are available to choose from which cover the learning objectives set out in the National Curriculum (full lists for each Key Stage available on request).

Each individual lesson will be highly visual utilising math equipment such as Base 10, Numicon, link cubes (including Numberblocks link cubes) and number lines. Concrete maths manipulatives will be shared in class via my second camera. Concepts will be practised by the student using various media like interactive math visuals, games, activity sheets and Zoom's annotate function.
Lessons will be begin with an introduction and demonstration of the concept followed by student practise through various media. We will usually finish the lesson by working together to begin the printable/downloadable activity for each topic, typically using annotate on Zoom to write, draw and input numbers (please note that this is not an option if using a Chrome Book).

If unfinished, the activity may be completed outside of class and submitted to me for feedback, if wished. I encourage learners to continue with any unfinished work for them to have independent practise of each concept and consolidate their learning.

Suitable for children who have a sound knowledge of foundation level maths. They should reliably be able to count forwards and backwards within 1-20, recognise and write digits add and subtract 2 single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They should be able to use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time, and money.
Learning Goals
Students will increase their knowledge and build a secure foundation of skills in six areas of math suitable for their age and ability. These are: Number & Place Value, Measurement, Calculations, Statistics, Fractions and Geometry.
