US Grade Kindergarten - 5
This is a 1-on-1 tutoring session designed to meet the specific needs of your learner! Please message me once enrolled in your first session to give a brief overview of what your student is working on in math. This will help me to prepare! Tutoring can include (but is not limited to): 1. Specific goal/need - if your learner needs extra practice with a specific goal, I will tailor my instruction to meet their needs in these areas. 2. Re-teach new topics - if your learner was recently introduced to a new skill in class, I can re-teach this skill and facilitate guided practice to increase their confidence. 3. Review of previously learned skills - if your learner needs extra practice with a previously learned skill that serves as a prerequisite to a new skill, I can help strengthen their foundation. 4. Quiz/test prep - if your learner will be taking a quiz or test on a certain skill, I will review all concepts/create a study guide to help them prepare (please message me no less than 24 hours in advance for adequate time to prepare a study guide). Potential topics can include (but are not limited to): K - number sense, counting, one-to-one correspondence, addition and subtraction within 10, shapes 1 - place value, addition and subtraction within 20, counting to and above 100, measurement, telling time 2 - place value, skip counting (2, 5, 10), addition and subtraction within 100, measurement, estimation 3 - place value, addition and subtraction to 1,000, fact fluency, multiplication, division, fractions, measurement and data 4 - place value, rounding, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, measurement and data 5 - place value, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, measurement and data, beginning algebra When teaching mathematics, I will often use the "I do, we do, you do" model with students. This creates a scaffolding approach to learning that will guide each learner toward mastery. I will also implement "retrieval practice" in each session. Your learner will take 5 minutes to answer three questions involving previously learned skills as a spiral review. I will address any gaps as needed. I may also provide students with a challenge question if enrichment is needed.
Learning Goals
Students will strengthen their understanding of grade-level math skills to achieve mastery of common core standards.
