1-on-1 Math Tutoring

This course covers both foundational mathematics skills as well as personalized topics based on student needs. Material is adapted based on the topics a student is struggling with at school or would like to spend extra time exploring. These topics may range from basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, to more advanced topics in trigonometry, systems of equations, exponents, graphing, limits, calculus and more, depending on a student's particular grade-level, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. 

Classes will typically begin with a 5-20 minute overview of that day's topic to cover important terminology, skills, and concepts. The duration of the lesson will depend on the student's familiarity and confidence with the topic and will be adjusted as needed. Following the lesson, the remainder of class time will be spent working through practice problems together, providing plenty of time for students to ask clarifying questions as they arise while developing their math and problem-solving skills. Practice questions can either be extra material from school, provided by the student, or can be provided by the instructor upon request. 

I believe that learning should be fun, and hope to give students a space where they feel supported and can explore math without fear of judgement. My teaching style involves getting to know a student's interests, strengths, and weaknesses, and catering the course to their unique needs to ensure the most rewarding learning experience. This is a highly personalized course with a focus on actively practicing and problem-solving, as I believe these are the tools students need to succeed and unlock their potential. My goal is for each student to leave this course feeling empowered in their own abilities, and to inspire a love and appreciation for mathematics. 

Classes will be taught on Zoom and will utilize Zoom's whiteboarding feature for an interactive and visual learning experience. Students may do their own work either on paper or the whiteboard as preferred.
