Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Tutoring covers fundamental topics such as introduction (what is linguistics), phonetics (the sounds of language), syntax (sentence structure), semantics (meaning), morphology (word formation), and sociolinguistics (language in society). Each session is structured around a blend of direct instruction, interactive discussions, and practical exercises. I use a variety of teaching tools, including slides, video clips, and real-life language examples, to make complex concepts accessible and engaging. My teaching style is highly interactive, encouraging students to ask questions, participate in discussions, and apply what they learn through games and exercises. Learners will have ample opportunities for one-on-one interaction, ensuring that their specific needs and interests are addressed. Whether the learner is preparing for a school project, needs extra support in a linguistics course, or is simply curious about how languages are structured and what the scientific study language includes, this class offers a supportive and stimulating environment to explore linguistic concepts.
Learning Goals
Develop foundational knowledge in linguistics: Students will gain a broad understanding of key linguistic concepts, such as sound patterns, sentence structure, word formation, and meaning, applicable across various languages.
Analyze language systematically: Students will learn to break down and examine different components of language, including sounds, words, sentences, and meanings, using linguistic frameworks and methodologies.
