In this one-on-one math tutoring class, students will engage with the JUMP Math approach, a structured and confidence-building method that breaks down concepts into manageable steps. Each student will begin with an initial assessment to determine their current skill level and will be placed in the appropriate part of the JUMP Math sequence. This ensures personalized learning, whether they need support in foundational concepts or are ready to advance. We will cover essential topics in the following sequence: Scope & Sequence 1. Operations & Algebraic Thinking (1.OA) 🔹 Understanding Addition & Subtraction: Solve word problems using models and equations 🔹 Properties of Operations: Apply strategies like making ten & counting on 🔹 Fluency in Addition & Subtraction Within 20: Strengthen mental math strategies 🔹 Working with Equations: Understanding the equal sign & solving for unknowns 2. Number & Operations in Base Ten (1.NBT) 🔹 Counting & Place Value: Understanding numbers up to 120 🔹 Comparing & Ordering Numbers: Understanding tens & ones, using <, >, = 🔹 Adding & Subtracting Using Place Value: Adding within 100 & mental math strategies 3. Measurement & Data (1.MD) 🔹 Measuring & Comparing Lengths: Ordering & using measurement units 🔹 Telling & Writing Time: Reading clocks to the hour and half-hour 🔹 Interpreting & Representing Data: Organizing and comparing data sets 4. Geometry (1.G) 🔹 Recognizing & Building Shapes: Understanding defining attributes 🔹 Partitioning Shapes: Understanding halves and quarters Schedule & Format: 📌 1-on-1 sessions (25-50 min per lesson, depending on age and needs) 📌 Flexible scheduling to accommodate different time zones 📌 Weekly ongoing or structured short-term options available Assessment & Placement: Before diving into lessons, students will undergo an informal assessment to ensure they begin at the right spot in the JUMP Math sequence. This helps tailor instruction to their exact needs, filling in gaps and building confidence. Progress Monitoring & Parent Communication: ✅ Student progress will be monitored weekly to track growth and mastery of concepts. ✅ Progress reports will be provided to parents, offering insights into strengths, areas for improvement, and achievements. Optional Homework & Support Materials: 📄 Additional practice materials and resources will be provided to reinforce learning. 📚 Optional homework is available for students who want extra practice between sessions. Parental Support: Parental guidance is not required during class but is encouraged for young learners who may need help with technology. I am a highly qualified educator with certifications in K-6 Elementary Education, K-12 Special Education, and TESOL. With extensive experience in both in-person and online teaching, I specialize in designing individualized learning plans that support diverse learners and foster academic growth.
